Cell phoen bill inncorrect what can I do?

My cell phone was turned off. I have a contract that says I pay x amount of dollars each month. The cell provider says I owed more than My contracted amount I payed. They cant tell me Why its more or what I am being charged for. They are just threatening to not provide my service that I have payed for and go after my credit with the unpaid amount what can I do?
